Artificial Intelligence: Revolutionizing Predictive Medicine

Artificial Intelligence: Revolutionizing Predictive Medicine

Recently, as of August 17, 2018, Microsoft India and Apollo Hospitals announced that they had unveiled the “first ever” artificial intelligence-powered program to detect the risk of Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD) in India. Microsoft believes that artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technology can democratise healthcare, reduce its costs, and make it easier to predict risk of disease and provide preventive healthcare.

This technology’s predictive scoring makes use of data on aspects of one’s lifestyle, including physical activity levels, substance use, diet, stress and blood pressure. Unlike other tests for CVD, this one also caters specifically to the Indian population. This comes as a blessing because of the enormous amounts of CVD related cases that occur in India each year, and the difficulties Indian doctors currently face in pin-pointing the cause of these diseases.

Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing medicine and healthcare to an extent that has only been dreamed of before. Even Prameya’s cancer screening method uses an AI-based screening service provided by our partner, Niramai Health Analytix Pvt. Ltd. This is a further testament to the accuracy and detail with which AI can predict the onset of disease.
